They say that Christmas is not a single concept but a collection of a lot of things put together. There are the material things such as Christmas cards, Christmas trees, ornaments, the image of Santa Claus, candy canes, and so much more. But course, there are also the more important non-material matters, such as connecting with your family and friends.
Most people believe that Christmas need not be very extravagant and material-filled, as long there is the presence of love above everything else. After all, what use are the colors of Christmas if people are more absorbed by hatred and negativity.
But there are many ways to show love to someone else. They can be shown through tight hugs, embraces, and kisses, while others resort into expressing the love through material things. And one of these materials that show love and affection are the Christmas cards.
Giving gifts is the act in which people have become accustomed with during Christmas season. But the act of giving gifts is not possible for every people because of long distant places and other reasons.
During the times when Internet and mobile phones were not available, people had to resort in using Christmas cards to express their love. They send this through the conventional mail system.

Before, they were just plain cardboard that are folded in the middle with a Christmas design on the front. And then they became incorporated with glitters and various materials for decoration. Later on, they have had 3D accessories. And then came musical add-ons. In the present,they have even had their very own digital version in the name of e-cards.
But no matter how in many more ways we see Christmas cards to evolve, the meaning and specialness behind them remain intact. They were created as an answer to the need of people to connect with their loved ones during the special time of Christmas. And until now, they still serve the purpose of being the bridge that links people to their family and friends. They are theones that spread the love even amidst great distances between individuals.
However, there are many people who have given up sending Christmas cards to convey their love. They have thought that there are more ways to connect with their loved ones. One is through texting your messages by means of your mobile phone. Others would just send an email. But if you try to think about it, are they as special as sending Christmas cards? Well you have the option to choose which way you like to express your love in this Christmas season.
